This was a unique and relaxed wedding at Ceres, Brunswick – with motorbikes! Jason and Netty’s Ceres Environment Park made for the perfect backdrop to their day, a deliberately eco-conscious wedding. With a beautifully simple dress and a standout, unique, tailored rust coloured suit, these two brought class while keeping things super relaxed. This feeling followed through using a friend’s gin company, providing drinks to a pizza van and picnic rugs on the lawn. It was an honour to shoot (and with just a bit of trepidation as Jason Lau is quite a well known Melbourne fashion and motorbike photographer).
With bright moments orange from umbrellas, the bright sunny ceremony was led brilliantly by Dee from The Wedding Anarchist, which included a tea ceremony conducted by Jason’s sister.
We took a short break for a wander around the Ceres bushland and hung out for a few more portraits in the amazing old tram while they signed some paperwork- so Melbourne! Then back to their picnic-style reception.
At sunset Jason, Netty and I drove to some laneways in the back streets of Brunswick to take wedding portraits with Jason’s beloved motorbike – Netty also shares Jason’s love of riding and this is something they do together frequently. This was a super fun and a very unique way to end the day. Jason is SO incredibly used to guiding people in front of cameras and even being in front of a camera that helping him get out of his own head and let go and be himself was my biggest goal.
