It can feel hard to book photos. Hard because it s It can feel hard to book photos. Hard because it seems like a lot of effort with many moving parts. But it doesn’t have to be. You can do your session at home. In clothes you already own. With your kids (or dogs) showing up as they are. It takes an hour of your morning. That’s it. (And if it feels like too much effort to be at home - we go to a park). I have a calendar link that has all my availability that you can sit and look at in your own time and pick a date that suits you in around early basketball games and work. Easy. Message me for the link or head to www.becmatheson.com for more info.
Where is your favourite place to be as a family? T Where is your favourite place to be as a family? This is where you should be having your 2026 family photos. This photo of my sister and her family was taken up Mt Buffalo - a place of great importance to my brother in law in particular.

This is a reminder to book your 2026 family session www.becmatheson.com or make a calendar reminder in the next few months to do so.

Happy New Year friends from myself and the only ch Happy New Year friends from myself and the only child who indulged my start of the year beach walk this year.
This year I want more intention around regulation (for our whole household - after a mammoth few years and foray into the awareness of our deeply ND household), and am hoping to try have one weekday free of work and be more deliberate in other things like some physical art. Which is not really in my comfort zone. I hope to also see a bit more freedom in my work just in how I shoot, it’s time to stretch some muscles - much of which is around thought or rather too much thought and letting some of that go. My deepest thanks for your continued support and trust.
Merry Christmas friends! We had our annual polar e Merry Christmas friends! We had our annual polar express night tonight. The teenager was slightly less scathing than last year and actually looked like she was enjoying some of it so I’ll take it! I made them hang out near the tree after because the light 😍 they took the opportunity to shake the presents… a large many of which have been wrapped by the six year old (I’m not sure how many of her toys she’s giving away - she’s also wrapped some sticks for the dog hehe) 🎄
2025 has looked pretty wobbly for a lot of people. 2025 has looked pretty wobbly for a lot of people. My own has been a melting pot of medical appointments (SO many appointments!) chasing child diagnoses and adjusting how we work as a family so we all function a bit better. I am tired. But I’m also satisfied because in this space I accomplished a huge amount. I’m pretty proud of myself and very ready for next year to be very different 😅

Yesterday marked my last session for the year, it was raining quite a lot - quite a fitting marker for the frustrating weather upheavals for the last two months. Usually I would move a session for weather like this but with interstate crew and minimal time they decided to go ahead and it was actually wonderful and I love their images. Rather a good metaphor actually.

Thanks all for your trust this year. I hope for rest and peace for you and your families and a gentle easing into what’s next.
So people aren’t confused - if you’ve seen thi So people aren’t confused - if you’ve seen this couple get married before… that’s because they did. Earlier this year in a hospital for the groom’s father who was too ill to move. Their plans were already in place for yesterdays wedding and they still chose to celebrate with friends and have a bit more of a party. One upside was that their little boy got to walk down the aisle yesterday (because he can now walk) I can’t wait to see these photos from @danielle.monique.photography because I’ve never seen a small child grin harder. Just about sums it up.
