Capturing the heart of your brand

Brand photography in Melbourne

People focussed photography coverage for businesses and brands who care.

Step away from stock photography and stiff corporate headshots. I make useful, on-brand images for marketing teams, founders and charities in Melbourne, showing your team, your space and the way you actually work, so that your website, socials and campaigns look consistent and human.

I work with social enterprises and creative, forward-thinking businesses of all sizes. With a background in Communication Design, Web Development and entrepreneurial spaces plus extensive experience in people-focused photography I bring a practical, design-led approach to brand imagery.

In a world increasingly shaped by AI and automation, showing real people doing real work (and real play) goes a long way. Sessions are relaxed, practical and collaborative, and the images are made to be genuinely useful across your website, socials and print.

Photography does not need to be intimidating. I approach things conversationally and naturally. I do not shoot with extensive lighting setups and aim to keep things authentic to your workplace.

I offer photographic coverage, post production and simple pre-production. Extensive pre-production or logistics only by arrangement. I work with people focussed brands and lifestyle based brand sessions. I do not offer studio-based product photography directly but can source this if required.

I offer reasonable turn arounds, rush options available.

Deliverables depends on your needs, budget and job scope. This might be 100-200 images for an extensive new branding project or a smaller volume session if you only need some hero shots.

I have a network of creatives with different skills, please ask.

Please contact me for more information, licensing fees can be rolled into your service fee if this is simpler to understand. All work subject to signed contracts that will specify usage rights.

    Branding Photography Reviews

    • “I engaged Bec for my business branding shoot. Having followed Bec for years on social media, I knew she was the photographer who I could trust to bring my vision to life. Bec has a really easy booking system and a fast turnaround of edited photos. Working with her on the day was a dream. I felt nervous and awkward going into the shoot, but those feelings soon washed away with the care and guidance of Bec. It ended up being a fun session with lots of laughs together with considered photo set-ups. Thanks for my photos Bec, I love them and rave about you to everyone I know!”

    • “I would never have thought I could feel comfortable in front of a camera (especially for branding photos!), but Bec has a way of somehow making it super fun. It’s not cheesy and there’s nothing forced, but she really works her magic to find the best shots, all the lighting and those trade secrets I don’t understand. Not gonna lie – I looked pretty good! Thanks so much Bec!”

Sooo it turns out highschool kids absolutely dont Sooo it turns out highschool kids absolutely dont talk about their parents (who’da thunk it) because I was at a school showcase thing tonight and met a parent of a kid in my daughters and I nearly fell over when asking her what she does because she said: Photographer. I think I actually did the whole embarrassing: “Did you just say photographer?! Me too!” 🤣 Anyhoo that’s excellent. And now we are going to make plans to have coffee.
As a photographer an enormous part of the job is s As a photographer an enormous part of the job is snap decision making. Camera settings, composition, where to stand, what moments to prioritise and even in post, - which shots to keep, what needs to be cropped or made black and white. I’m quite good at making quick decisions (except what to have for dinner 🫠). A reception entrance - is often a shot I’d take from the front but with the view up the stairs being some food trucks and quite a flat sky, I decided this direction was better. It was absolutely the right call. 👏🏻

It was a gifted session (as in someone gifted to them) and I didn’t have very much of an idea of what I was walking in to (let’s just say my info collecting systems are a little better now), it was just so gentle and beautiful.

I photograph families, big and small and I make it I photograph families, big and small and I make it as easy as I can. Because the more comfortable you are the better your photos are going to be - and the more “you” your photos will be. I’m anti cheese and any kind of weird “get you in the zone” because manipulative emotional coaxing makes my skin crawl. (Photo prompts be damned - we don’t go there!!) So if this sounds good to you, you can find out more over at www.becmatheson.com I currently have my books open through to March next year.
Update. So I had my wisdom teeth out (under a gene Update. So I had my wisdom teeth out (under a general) the worst initial bit was a caffeine withdrawal headache/possibly post-wedding things (sometimes we call this a photography hangover) not the teeth! which is a little embarrassing and somewhat self inflicted - although apparently anaesthetics can amplify existing things…. otherwise the first two days were unpleasant but okay (even managed to edit a wedding!) but the night of day 2 and day 3 was not and I caved to the stronger meds and they were barely cutting it. Day 4 now and hopefully the worst is over… once I remember how to chew food again (that bit is slow) and find some energy, if I never see yoghurt again I’ll be happy. I have given myself two weeks all up to recover - of which I have no regrets and then it’ll be into the end of year fun/crazy in full swing.
